No Kernel Panic. No panic.
Kernel Panic is a concert series that brings together live acts with diverse and often contrasting styles in an attempt to create an evening that is surprising and interesting to listen to; electronic and acoustic, from drones and soundscapes to bleeps, noise, and sounds impossible to describe. Both established names and emerging acts perform during these evenings.
My name is Thijs Geritz and for 10 years I curated this series. From 2011 through 2021. After some wanderings, Kernel Panic found a permanent home at Studio Loos in 2017; the center for new music in The Hague. During the Corona pandemic, the concerts decreased and were eventually put on hold. Now that Studio Loos has also closed its doors in February 2025, there won't be any Kernel Panic evenings for the time being. I've always enjoyed hosting these evenings and bringing artists together. It allowed me to witness many beautiful performances and connect with wonderful people along the way.
Kernel Panic isn't gone, just hibernating until the right moment. The urge to host and curate concerts still tingles. Perhaps in a nomadic form or as living room concerts. Who knows.
Until then, you can still visit the old website and browse through the archive to find all the acts and, in many cases, hear their music, watch videos, and follow links to their projects. The Kernel Panic YouTube page will also continue to exist.
